About this artwork

Batman with Catwoman 9 holds a mid-toned, even light, with sharp separation between highlights and shadow — cyan and sky blue set its overall key. The hues are full without tipping into excess. Its even key makes it one of the easier pieces to place — it neither fights the wall nor disappears into it.

The piece sits in our DC Universe collection, a set of 89 works on the same theme. Collectors of this universe often hang it alongside Batman portrait 8 and Batman portrait 15.

Two finishes of a different order: a pigment-ink print on synthetic canvas that reproduces the surface faithfully, or a hand-painted oil on cotton canvas that reinterprets it. The second is unique; the first is exact. Nothing leaves the studio before you have seen photographs and a short video of it.
