Batman and Joker Merged in a Fractured Split Face — Print & Oil Painting

The seam runs diagonally from the top of the skull down past the left eye, and it is not a clean cut. Along that line the surface breaks into thousands of red and yellow filaments, like a struck match caught halfway through burning, and the two halves of the head are held together by nothing except that damage.

Above and to the right sits the cowl: dark blue-black, one pointed ear leaving the top of the frame, a single lens glowing white-hot at the temple. Below and to the left sits the Joker: grey-white skin stretched over bone, one green iris staring straight out, and a red grin carved from ear to ear across the lower third of the picture.

That grin belongs to both of them. It crosses the seam and keeps going, which is the argument the image is making: the mask has slipped far enough that you can no longer say whose face this is.

The rendering is deliberately abrasive throughout, all scratched crosshatch, dry stipple and torn digital texture, with hairline cracks radiating into the background at the lower right.
