About this artwork

What defines Christmas Train Set is how it sits comfortably between light and dark, in a dramatic tonal range, letting sky blue and red shape the whole image. Colour carries weight while staying plausible. It is forgiving about wall colour, which is not true of every piece in the catalogue.

It is catalogued under our George Hughes collection, which now runs to 105 pieces. It hangs comfortably beside "Bridge Party" Saturday Evening Post Cover and Home Football.

Two finishes of a different order: a pigment-ink print on synthetic canvas that reproduces the surface faithfully, or a hand-painted oil on cotton canvas that reinterprets it. The second is unique; the first is exact. You approve the finished work from photographs and a video before we pack it.

Portrait at 1:1.08: taller than it is wide, and better suited to a chimney breast than a long wall. There are 10 sizes, and in each one the number refers to the shorter side: 30 x 32 cm at the smallest, 150 x 161 cm at the largest. Rolled canvas ships at every size; stretched and framed finishes are offered up to 100 cm, beyond which the parcel exceeds what carriers accept.

The entry price is $93 for the smallest print. Tracked express delivery is included wherever you are, and you have 15 days to change your mind.
