About this artwork
The old story opens onto a bright, airy register, in a dramatic tonal range. Its dominant tones run through orange and red. Chroma sits at a comfortable, lifelike level. It suits pale interiors, where it reads as an extension of the light rather than a break in it.
This one comes from our John William Godward collection — 248 works sharing a single world. It pairs naturally with At The Garden Shrine Pompeii 1892 and Blossoming Red Almond if you want more than one piece.
Two ways to own it. The fine art print reproduces the image on synthetic canvas with pigment inks, holding the brush texture of the original. The hand-painted version is repainted in oil on cotton canvas by one of our senior artists, so no two copies are alike. Before anything is dispatched you receive photographs and a video of the finished work.
Wider than it is tall, at 1:1.24, it fills a wall the way a window does. 10 sizes are available, the figure always describing the shorter side of the canvas: from 37 x 30 cm up to 185 x 150 cm. Rolled canvas ships at every size; stretched and framed finishes are offered up to 100 cm, beyond which the parcel exceeds what carriers accept.
The entry price is $101 for the smallest print. Tracked express delivery is included wherever you are, and you have 15 days to change your mind.
