Ahri Reclining in Swirling Blue Mist — Print & Oil Painting

What carries the most light here is not the figure at all. At the upper left a fox made of pale blue fire hovers above her open palm, a long tapering muzzle, a body curled back on itself and two narrow slits of white for eyes, drawn in swirling translucent strokes that leave the rock behind it visible straight through.

Nine white tails fill almost the entire field. They are painted as broad soft sweeps of white going into lilac and pale grey, overlapping each other so freely that counting them takes effort, and they push the deep blue of the ground out to the corners. Fine bright motes drift across the whole surface like snow held in a beam.

The costume is where the drawing tightens. A short red and white dress with wide bell sleeves, dark scrollwork running the length of the sleeve and repeated down the front panel, a broad white cuff at the wrist, a gold ornament hanging at the waist and a blue tassel swinging free of it. Every one of those motifs is given a clean edge that nothing else in the picture receives.

She is leaning back into the tails with the head turned toward us. The eyes are amber with a narrow pupil, three small marks are drawn across each cheek, black hair falls to the shoulder and the fox ears rise clear of it. Her far hand is lifted with the fingers spread, mirroring the shape of the flame.

Ahri is the vastayan champion who works with foxfire, and the painting keeps that to a single held orb rather than to any display of force. Part of our League of Legends collection. The orbs return, several at once, in Ahri conjuring blue orbs with her fox tails, and the same nine tails are laid out at rest in Ahri resting on a blanket with butterflies.
