K/DA Ahri Performing Under Stage Lights — Print & Oil Painting

The rig is half the picture. Two banks of hard violet and white light run diagonally across the ceiling and are answered by their own reflections in a polished floor, so the space is described entirely by lighting equipment and by the shine it leaves behind. There is no wall, no backdrop and no audience.

Her tails have been rebuilt as sheet material. Instead of fur they are wide translucent panels in cyan, violet and magenta, creased into hard facets like cut glass or folded foil, sweeping out on both sides in a long arc that fills the width of the frame and comes back over her shoulder.

At the centre she stands with her weight dropped onto one hip and one hand raised, and a small pink heart hovers just above the fingers. Long gold hair falls past the waist, the fox ears sit high on the head, and the costume is a black bodysuit with a pale panel across one shoulder, worn with dark hose and gold heeled shoes.

Three further figures stand well back in the same light, dropped almost to silhouette, and a low amber glow at the far left edge is the single warm note in the work. Violet and blue take everything else.

K/DA is the virtual group that Riot built around Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai'Sa, and the picture is composed exactly as a stage photograph would be: the lead forward and lit, the rest of the line in shadow behind her.
