About this artwork

Princess Beatrice is a piece that distributes light without favouring either extreme, with readable but never harsh modelling — orange and red run through nearly every passage. The palette is rich but never garish. It is forgiving about wall colour, which is not true of every piece in the catalogue.

It belongs to our Philip Alexius de Laszlo collection, which gathers 83 works around the same universe. If you are building a wall around that theme, it sits well next to Lady Wantage 1911 and Master Peter Calvocoressi 1917.

This piece exists in two forms. Printed, it is pigment ink on synthetic canvas — accurate, stable, and faithful to the original texture. This is a portrait format, 1:1.24, which works between two windows or above a chest of drawers.
