B'Elanna Torres in a Hand-Inked Portrait — Print & Oil Painting

Two Starfleet deltas sit in the upper corners, one left, one right, at the same height and the same size. That single decision moves the image out of portraiture and towards something closer to a stamp or a playing card, and everything below is arranged symmetrically to match.

The medium is honest about itself. A firm ink contour runs round every form, the colour is laid in with marker and wash, and the tooth of the paper comes through in the flat passages. Behind the head sits a disc of deep blue starfield, ringed with a paler line, its speckle applied by hand and slightly uneven.

The skin has come out a strong orange, well past anything the series used, and the forehead ridges are drawn rather than modelled: a neat stack of parallel curves running up the centre of the brow into the hairline. Large brown eyes, a clear red mouth, chestnut hair cut to a bob and outlined in black. This is a fan drawing and it makes no apology for being one.

Under the chin the uniform names the department: a grey turtleneck with a mustard shoulder, the colour engineering wore. Those ridges are the part of herself the character spent years arguing with, and putting them dead centre and drawing them cleanly is a quiet contradiction of her.
