Borg Cube Exploding Beside the Enterprise — Print & Oil Painting

Nine tenths of this picture receives no light at all. That is the first fact about it and the rest follows: the cube fills the left two thirds as a near-black mass whose structure is legible only where scattered pinpoints of green and white catch an edge, and the right third is empty space with fine stars in it.

The one bright event is small. An orange fireball blooms out of a torn crater low on the near face, throwing warm light a short distance over the surrounding blocks and no further, with a handful of embers drifting away to the right. It is a hole in one face of something that has a great many faces.

Up at the top right, cool and grey and already turning away, a Federation ship holds station at a respectful distance: broad saucer, blue deflector, red caps on the nacelles, painted small enough that the fire and the vessel occupy almost the same area of canvas.

Nothing in the image suggests the cube is dying, and that matters, because the arithmetic always ran one way. A weapon worked once, and after that it was catalogued and never worked again. From our Star Trek collection, next to USS Enterprise Gleaming in a Purple Nebula.
