About this artwork

In View on the Schoharie, the composition stays on the shadowed side of the palette, with strong light-against-dark modelling. red and magenta carry most of the surface. The colour is present without shouting. Its lower key makes it a natural fit for a study, a bedroom or any room you want to feel settled.

Part of our Thomas Cole collection, a group of 179 works built around one universe. It pairs naturally with The Voyage of Life: Childhood 1842 and River in the Catskills if you want more than one piece.

Two ways to own it. The fine art print reproduces the image on synthetic canvas with pigment inks, holding the brush texture of the original. The hand-painted version is repainted in oil on cotton canvas by one of our senior artists, so no two copies are alike. Before anything is dispatched you receive photographs and a video of the finished work.

The artwork is landscape-oriented, at 1:1.3 — it settles naturally above a sofa, a bed or a sideboard. 10 sizes are available, the figure always describing the shorter side of the canvas: from 39 x 30 cm up to 195 x 150 cm. Rolled delivery is possible at all sizes. If you want it stretched or framed, 100 cm is the limit, set by carrier volume rules rather than by us.
