Gaige The Mechromancer portrait — Print & Oil Painting

The teal glow behind her head is not lighting. It is a machine: an armoured skull with a lit visor and plated shoulders looming across the top of the frame, close enough that its lower jaw sits just behind her pigtails. Deathtrap is not standing next to her, he is standing over her.

Gaige is drawn small by comparison and looks straight out at us. Orange-red hair pulled into two high tails, green eyes, goggles with amber lenses pushed up onto the forehead, a studded collar with a brass ring at the throat, a dark jacket over a red top, gold rings hung from one ear.

The bottom of the picture explains the rest. Her right hand is a mechanism: exposed metal fingers, a heavy forearm shell, bolts and joints given more attention than her face. In the fiction that arm houses the systems which build and control Deathtrap, so the robot behind her is quite literally an output of the limb in the foreground.

Colour splits cleanly in two. Everything mechanical is cold, teal and steel and pale blue. Everything human is warm: hair, skin, jacket leather, the amber in the goggle lenses. The game logo sits in the lower right corner in yellow.
