Batman Standing Before a Blazing Bat Symbol — Print & Oil Painting

We are behind him. That is unusual enough to be the first thing worth saying: the figure stands with his back to us in the lower centre of the frame, cape dropping to the ground in a wide dark cone, and there is no face anywhere in the picture.

What he is looking at fills the top half. An enormous bat emblem burns above the horizon, its outline drawn in running orange fire, its interior a lattice of glowing structure that suggests girders or a burning building seen end on. Flame licks upward from both wingtips and embers drift away to the right.

Everything else is teal. Smoke, sky and the flat ground behind him are handled in cold blue-green, so the fire is not merely bright but chromatically alone, and the reflected orange running along the top of the cape is the only warmth that reaches the figure at all.

Scale is managed by proportion rather than detail: he takes perhaps a fifth of the height, the emblem more than half the width, and the gap between them is filled with haze.
