Batman Symbol Erupting in Fire and Debris — Print & Oil Painting

There is nobody in this image. Not a figure, not a face, not a silhouette on a rooftop: the entire composition is a shape punched out of an explosion, and the shape is the emblem.

The bat sits at the centre as pure negative space, solid black, wings raised and slightly swept, its silhouette clean enough to read at any size and careful never to touch the edges of the frame. Around it the fire opens outward in two great orange lobes, brightest immediately behind the wings and cooling to deep red before it reaches the black margin.

Inside that fire the artist has left an entire street standing. A canyon of towers recedes toward a vanishing point directly beneath the emblem, windows still legible as a grid of small squares, and the perspective lines of that canyon radiate outward on exactly the same axes as the blast. Two structures at the bottom edge are already coming apart.

Debris fills what remains: hundreds of small dark fragments scattered across the orange with a slight motion blur, largest at the edges, finest near the middle. From our DC Universe collection.
