About this artwork

What defines Sunday Visitors is how it sits comfortably between light and dark, with sharp separation between highlights and shadow, letting emerald and red shape the whole image. The hues are intense and unapologetic. It works in most lighting conditions, which makes it a safe choice when you are unsure.

The piece sits in our George Hughes collection, a set of 105 works on the same theme. It hangs comfortably beside Christmas Train Set and Rain on the Boardwalk.

Two finishes of a different order: a pigment-ink print on synthetic canvas that reproduces the surface faithfully, or a hand-painted oil on cotton canvas that reinterprets it. The second is unique; the first is exact. Before anything is dispatched you receive photographs and a video of the finished work.

This is a portrait format, 1:1.07, which works between two windows or above a chest of drawers. 10 sizes are available, the figure always describing the shorter side of the canvas: from 30 x 32 cm up to 150 x 161 cm. Rolled canvas ships at every size; stretched and framed finishes are offered up to 100 cm, beyond which the parcel exceeds what carriers accept.
