About this artwork

In The Blue Beret 1908, the composition keeps an unforced natural light, with edges that stay quiet. red and orange carry most of the surface. The palette is rich but never garish. Its even key makes it one of the easier pieces to place — it neither fights the wall nor disappears into it.

It belongs to our Gertrude Harvey collection, which gathers 94 works around the same universe. It hangs comfortably beside Daffodils and Girl On A Cliff 1926.

You can have this either as a print or as an oil painting. The print is pigment ink on synthetic canvas and keeps the surface texture of the source work. The painting is made by hand, in oil on cotton canvas, by an artist who paints it from scratch. Before anything is dispatched you receive photographs and a video of the finished work.

The 1:1.23 portrait shape makes it a good fit for a narrow stretch of wall beside a door. Sizes run from 30 x 37 cm to 150 x 184 cm — 10 in all, each named after its shorter side. Every size can be sent rolled. Stretching and framing are available to 100 cm — past that the volumetric weight goes beyond what any carrier will take.
