Fiery LeChuck Towers Over Guybrush and Elaine — Print & Oil Painting

Lavender and apricot, which are not pirate colours at all. The sky behind this scene is a soft swirl of mauve, peach and cream, and against that pastel ground the burning figure on the right reads twice as hot as it would over a normal night. The colour choice is the whole trick of the cover.

That figure is enormous and alight. A head and torso of pure flame inside a black coat and a wide dark hat, arms spread, jaw hanging open, fire licking upward past the brim. He fills the entire right half and the top of the hat is cropped by the frame, which is the standard way of drawing something too big for its picture.

At the lower left the hero has been drawn as pure rubber: an impossible chin, a nose like a wedge, blond hair curled into two heavy hooks, an expression somewhere between alarm and calculation. He holds up a diamond ring between finger and thumb and it throws one hard white star.

Behind him at the rail stands a woman rendered entirely in gold: skin, hair and clothes all one polished metal surface, eyes closed, arms rigid at her sides. A ring, a curse, and a statue where a person used to be. The lettering above is drawn in the same flame colours as the villain, which ties the top of the canvas to the bottom.
