Kerrigan as a Ghost Beside a Terran Mech — Print & Oil Painting

Two suits of armour, and the painting is a comparison between them. Behind stands a terran powered suit the size of a small building, all rounded slabs of grey-brown plating, a slot of a visor lit from within, a gun the length of a man cradled across it. In front of it stands a figure whose armour is skin-tight, white and grey, seamed with lines of cyan light.

One is built to absorb and the other to disappear. The heavy suit is drawn with weight everywhere, panel lines, rivets and dents; the slim one is drawn as a silhouette with piping, and carries nothing that would stop anything at all. That contrast is the entire design.

She comes forward out of the shadow of the machine with a long rifle held muzzle-down in the left hand and the right hand lifted to her ear, mid-transmission. Red hair pulled into a high tail streams out to the right, and her face is the only bare skin anywhere in the canvas.

The world around the pair of them burns. Red-brown rock, dust, three or four broken towers on the horizon, a sky of smoke lit orange from beneath, and four thin white streaks crossing the upper right where something is firing over their heads. Everything is warm except the two figures.

Before Char and before the swarm, Sarah Kerrigan worked as a terran ghost, a psychic operative in exactly this kind of suit, and this is the only painting here that shows her that way. From our Starcraft collection, a long distance from the winged figure rising out of the swarm she is usually painted as.
