Tassadar and Zeratul Unite Their Powers — Print & Oil Painting

Nothing on this canvas has been allowed to settle. Whole passages of armour are single dragged strokes, a spiral of energy in the lower right corner has been laid in with the edge of the brush, arcs of current run off the left edge without resolving into anything, and the ground behind is scraped rather than described. At any distance the piece reads as an event and not as a portrait.

Underneath that turmoil sits a very simple structure. Cold cobalt occupies the left half, acid green occupies the right, and the two collide just off centre in a white starburst from which the paint has been dragged outward in long streaks, so that the seam between them is torn open rather than drawn.

Two heads emerge from the confusion once you have found them. On the left a helmed profile in blue-grey with white eyes burning under a heavy brow. On the right a hooded skull in mottled brown and green, green-eyed, with a scattering of pale nerve cords falling from it. Each is described almost entirely by the light belonging to its own side of the picture.

The lore behind the pairing is exact. Tassadar learned to carry void energy alongside the psionic discipline of the Khala after his contact with the dark templar, and it was that combination that finally killed the Overmind on Aiur.
