These are not screen grabs run through a filter: each one is composed as a painting, then built up in oil on canvas by hand.

Cinema light is not painting light

A film frame is lit for a lens, with practicals, rim light and colour grading that the eye never actually meets in a room. Our painters keep the drama and rebuild the values so the image still reads under ordinary daylight and lamplight. That is the real work in a film reproduction, and it is why a painted one holds a wall that a poster cannot.
