Ahsoka Tano's Sabers Gleam in Dramatic Shadow — Print & Oil Painting

The viewpoint has been set low and tilted up, so the figure looks down at us across the whole height of the frame. Almost nothing else is admitted: a pale grey wall, one soft shaft of light falling from the upper left, and a floor that stops being described about a metre in.

The horns and head-tails are drawn with unusual precision, bone white with sharp charcoal striping, and they occupy the entire top third of the canvas. The face beneath is composed rather than fierce: brows level, mouth closed, two very pale blue eyes taking the only warm light in the picture.

The costume is nearly monochrome. A deep maroon breastplate with a single gold stud at its lowest point, dark grey sleeves, long gloves, a plain belt with a heavy oval buckle. Saturation across the whole image runs so low that the red of her skin and the red of the armour sit within a step of one another.

Two white blades stand vertically at the left and right edges, both cut by the bottom of the frame, held straight down and away from the body. They light nothing except themselves, which is unusual and deliberate: this is a picture about standing still with weapons drawn, not about a fight.
