Asajj Ventress Stands Before a Fiery Explosion — Print & Oil Painting

She is placed dead centre and painted very nearly symmetrically: shoulders square to us, both arms down, a hilt in each hand, and a blade angled inward from each so that the two lines meet somewhere near her knees in a shallow V.

The background has been cut in half behind her. The left side is an explosion, orange and yellow with embers riding up through it; the right is a cold blue structure of pillars and beams lit from within. She stands exactly on the seam, and neither half is allowed to spill onto the other.

The costume gets the most careful description in the picture. A plum sleeveless top, both arms bound wrist to shoulder in pale strips, a wide cream belt closed by a red disc with a raised device on it, and a long dark skirt opening on a panel of deep red worked over with gold filigree.

She is finished in high gloss. The skin is chalk white with a hard specular sheen on the skull, the mouth is nearly black, the brow carries a small dark mark. Every edge is crisp and every shadow has been decided in advance, which puts the image closer to a printed character card than to a painted canvas.

The curve of those hilts is functional. The pair she carries were built to lock end to end into one double blade, so a picture that keeps them apart and turned inward is showing the position everything else starts from.
