B1 Battle Droids Advance Beside a Federation Transport — Print & Oil Painting

This one is about logistics rather than combat. A large sand-coloured transport fills the right two-thirds of the canvas, blunt-nosed and slab-sided, its hull broken into flat armoured panels with a row of louvres along the flank. It is not doing anything dramatic. It is standing still and unloading.

The mechanism is the reason to look. Extended from its near side is the deployment rack: a long ladder of horizontal rails with rows of folded droid bodies still racked along it, red indicator points running the length, the whole assembly hanging out over the ground like a shelf pulled from a cabinet. Beneath it the earth is dark and churned.

Six droids have already come off that rack and are walking left to right across the foreground, rifles carried low across the body, legs caught at four different points of the same stride. They are painted a warmer yellow-tan than the vehicle behind them, which separates them from it without any outline being needed.

Above and behind, three red bolts streak in from the left and pass over the transport, and the whole picture sits inside an olive-ochre haze that has removed the horizon completely. It is the brightest canvas here, and also the least dramatic, which is exactly why it holds: an army being taken out of its box while somebody off the left edge shoots at it.
