Boba Fett's Weathered Helmet in a Smoky Hold — Print & Oil Painting

The weapon reaches us before the man does. A heavy barrel comes straight out of the lower left corner, foreshortened almost to a circle, its muzzle ringed with blunt teeth and a round sight mounted alongside it, and it is pointed directly at the viewer. Everything else in the picture is arranged behind that.

The helmet is turned three-quarters and it is a catalogue of damage. The green has been rubbed through to bare grey along the crown and around the visor; the maroon markings at cheek and brow are chipped and unevenly worn; there is a dent above one temple and a long scrape across the dome. The rangefinder is folded up on its arm, and the T-visor is a flat black shape with nothing behind it.

Below the collar the armour continues in the same worn olive, with a mustard shoulder plate on one side and a small circular device painted on the chest in white, blue and red. The paint is handled loosely everywhere except on the helmet, which keeps every scratch it has.

The setting is barely there and it is exactly enough: a dim interior with heavy diagonal beams overhead and pale smoke drifting between them, all of it a value or two above black. The smoke separates the figure from the roof and does nothing else at all.
