Starkiller Wielding Twin Blades in the Snow — Print & Oil Painting

About this artwork
The method is manga rather than painting. Contours are inked and closed, shadow is spotted in as solid black, the cloak is ruled with long straight speed lines, and colour arrives in flat washes that never model a surface. There is no rendered texture anywhere on the sheet.
The figure is seen from below and slightly behind, caught mid-twist so that the shoulders turn one way and the hips the other. The helmet is the centrepiece: white and gold, fluted like a shell, a spiked crest running back over the crown and a narrow dark slot where the face should be. The bodysuit beneath is segmented in blue-black plates, tight at the ribs, heavy at the gauntlets.
Two blades run through the composition on opposing diagonals. A red one is raised behind the shoulder and leaves the frame at the top left, drawn as a clean ruled bar. The second is pale, almost white, held low across the body toward the bottom left, and it has been given a jagged crackling edge instead of a straight one, so the two weapons behave like two different tempers.
The cloak does the rest of the work, thrown out to the right in long flat panels edged in crimson, filling a third of the sheet. Below the lower hand hangs a fanned ornament of bright blades. Fine white flecks of snow cross a pale grey-violet sky, and there is no ground anywhere in the picture.
Fighting with two lit blades at once is a rare discipline in this galaxy, and the whole design here is bent around showing both of them in the same instant. From our Star Wars collection, beside a crimson blade drawn in the same borrowed idiom and another masked helmet lit from within.
