A Bad Batch Trooper's Helmet Glows in the Fog — Print & Oil Painting

Measured across the whole surface this image is about a tenth as bright as full white, and its saturation is under four hundredths. It is, for practical purposes, a black canvas with one object recovered from it, and the object has been placed low and small.

A single helmet floats out of the dark at the centre. The later clone pattern, rounded at the crown with the narrow visor slot and the twin breathing vents low on the face, and it has been beaten up badly: the finish scraped down to grey through every raised edge, long scratches across the dome, grime pooled in the recesses. A red stripe runs back over the crown and more red is worked around the mouth, but at this saturation it reads as rust rather than as paint.

Nothing supports it. There is no neck, no shoulders and no body, and the fog that drifts across the lower third of the frame simply stops where the helmet begins. It is lit from the upper left by a source the picture does not show.

Above it, in the upper quarter, a title block sits inside a thin rounded border, its letters given the same scratched and abraded treatment as the armour. The two elements are separated by a wide field of pure black, which is the most confident decision in the design: most of this poster is nothing at all.
