Geralt and Ciri Stand Together in Swirling Magic — Print & Oil Painting

Two blades run straight down into the ground, nearly parallel, one left of centre and one right, and they are the only straight lines in the picture. Everything else curls: hair, cloth, and above all a pale teal fire that boils up both sides and closes over the top like the mantling around a coat of arms.

He fills the upper half, behind her and higher. Long white hair blown back off the face, a short beard, dark brows over eyes with a yellow cast, and a torso assembled from layers that have each been drawn separately: riveted mail across the ribs, brown leather bands and buckled straps over that, a heavy studded shoulder. On a cord at the sternum hangs a small silver medallion, spiked like a star, the badge every witcher carries for the school that made him.

She is low in the front of the frame with one leg drawn up, in a blue-white blouse under a gold sash, a red belt above a wide plated one with green stones in it, ochre trousers and heavy boots. Her hand rests on her own hilt with the wrist loose. His expression is set and turned slightly down; hers is open, the chin lifted, the eyes wide and pale.

The ground they occupy is a wreck. Teal crystal shards stand up like broken ice at both edges, and a brown skull sits low on the right with its forehead caved in. That teal fire is attached to neither of them, arriving instead from the borders of the picture, which makes it read as heraldry rather than as a spell anyone is casting.

Ciri grew up at Kaer Morhen and trained on those same swords, and the image leans on that rather than on any one scene from the story: two fighters arranged like a device on a shield.
