Ahsoka Tano Crosses Her Sabers Beneath Cloudy Skies — Print & Oil Painting

The figure is small. She stands dead centre of a wide canvas with a great deal of weather above her and a dark plain below, and she takes up perhaps a fifth of the height of the frame. Scale here is the whole argument.

The sabers are crossed low, tips down and outward, making a narrow X in front of her shins. They are the sharpest thing in the picture: two clean blue lines in an image where nothing else has a hard edge.

Shots are coming in. Five or six short bolts in hot pink and red cross the frame from both sides at different heights, each one small, and each one placed to leave a gap around her rather than to strike. Nobody firing them is anywhere in the picture.

Behind her the cloud is banked in blue-white and lit from within, brightest directly behind her head so the shoulders and the horns read as a black cut-out against it. The ground is a smear of dark blue-grey with a few paler drifts, and the horizon has been abandoned.

Waiting with the blades down while fire crosses the frame is the older half of the job. A Jedi stands still and lets the bolts arrive, because the weapon was built to answer them rather than to shoot first.
