About this artwork
A single colour runs the entire canvas. Violet and magenta fill the ground, the air, the shadows and the light, and the only things permitted out of it are the orange of her face and the pale grey of her clothes. Even the sparks coming off the floor are pink.
Ahsoka is down on one knee at the centre, close to the picture plane, in the white-grey rig of her later years: a plated top, grey leggings, hard knee and shin guards, a broad brown belt with a round buckle, and a long pale panel hanging between the knees. Both hilts are gripped low and both blades are driven straight down past her, throwing white light up into her jaw and scattering broken chips into the air around her.
Her face is tilted up and turned a few degrees off axis, mouth open, eyes wide, fixed on something past the top of the frame.
The other thing in the picture is in the upper right: a clawed hand, painted flat black, fingers spread and reaching down towards her, set inside a ring of hotter violet like a hole burned through the wall behind it. At the far left a second dark shape crowds into the frame, close and out of focus, and the wall beyond it carries rows of angular incised marks. Neither the hand nor the shape is ever accounted for.
