Boba Fett Battles the Sarlacc's Grasping Tentacles — Print & Oil Painting

The palest canvas in this group and one of the busiest. Everything has been bleached to sand-ochre, dusty rose and chalky lilac, and the figure is thrown diagonally across it from lower left to upper right, jetpack lit, one arm flung out, the whole body rolled onto its side.

The armour is painted with genuine care. Green plates gone grey and chalky with wear, a red-brown band across the helmet with the T-visor cut into it, the rangefinder folded up on its arm above one ear, a dented pauldron, yellow-ochre plates at the knee, a scorched olive cloth hanging from the shoulder in strips. Beneath the jetpack an orange flare and a wash of heat make the hottest colour in the picture.

Coming in from every edge are the tentacles: long, pale, finely ringed, tapering to points, curling in slow arcs across the foreground and looping away behind him. There are at least six, and they are drawn as one tangled system rather than as separate limbs. Below and behind, a large dark bulk is suggested through the haze and never resolved.

The artist has made a good decision about what to show. The creature is never given a mouth, an eye or a scale. It is only ever arms, which is exactly how it works on anyone unlucky enough to be standing near it, and the man is painted mid-escape rather than mid-fight.
