Darth Revan Ignites Twin Sabers in a Dim Corridor — Print & Oil Painting

A standing full-length figure in a working corridor, and the corridor has been given as much attention as he has. Panels and bulkheads recede on both sides, a bank of cold white lamps burns out of focus at the upper left, small cyan strips glow low along the right-hand wall, and the deck is a dark grating that throws almost nothing back. The whole space measures blue.

Revan is centred and completely still. Both blades are lit and held down at his sides at matching angles, red on one hand and violet on the other, so that the figure sits inside a shallow V of light. Neither arm is raised. This is someone who has drawn and is waiting.

The costume rewards close reading. Under the hood the mask is a curved plate of dark red metal with a narrow vertical eye slot; below it a high collar, a plated chest piece, then a wide sash wound several times round the waist with pouches, rings and buckled straps hanging from it. Long leather gauntlets reach nearly to the elbow, and the outer robe falls to the boots in heavy folds, taking a violet cast down the side where that blade hangs.

The pairing of colours is the point of the picture. Red in one hand and violet in the other is how this character is most often shown, one blade for each half of a life spent on both sides of the same order, and holding them low rather than crossed lets the two colours sit side by side without either winning.
