Darth Revan Crossing Blue and Red Sabers — Print & Oil Painting

The composition is an X with a vertical standing on it. Two blades cross low in the frame, one red running up to the right and one blue running up to the left, and the hooded figure stands dead centre above the intersection with both arms held low and open.

The mask is the reason this character gets painted as often as he does. A flat faceplate, a grey steel upper band pierced by two narrow eye slits, and below it a red-brown lower half ridged with vertical bars like a grille. It has no features and no expression, and the hood pulled forward over it leaves everything except the metal in shadow.

Underneath, the layers have been itemised: a segmented plate over the chest and belly etched with interlocking circles, a heavy cloak with a ragged dark trim, maroon sashes crossing the torso and knotted at the waist, a crescent of metal at the belt, and two polished silver vambraces that are the brightest solid objects in the picture.

The background is split down the middle to match the blades, cool blue smoke boiling on the left and hot crimson on the right, with the seam running straight up through the figure. It is an obvious device and it works anyway, because a man standing on that join is precisely the argument being made.

He took the mask from a dead Mandalorian woman on a world her own people had burned, wore it in her memory, and went on wearing it after he had crossed to the other side.
