Darth Vader Unleashing the Force Amid Fallen Troops — Print & Oil Painting

A raised hand with light coming out of it. That is the event this canvas is built around, and the artist has placed it high on the right, well above the mask, with the fingers curled and a red glow burning in the palm and along the inside of the knuckles. It is the brightest point in the picture and the only place where the light has no visible source.

The rest of the figure is arranged to keep that hand isolated. The blade is held in the opposite fist, down at hip height and angled away to the left, so the two arms make a wide open V with the body between them. The cape falls in heavy folds to the floor. Nothing crosses the space between the raised hand and the mask.

At floor level the picture goes quiet and confusing on purpose. Pale shapes lie across the entire bottom edge: a helmet on its side at the left, limbs, a head with dark red hair at the right, none of them fully drawn, all of them dissolving into the same grey-brown smear as the ground. The artist has refused to make the casualties legible.

Behind, an interior of grey lockers and wall panels recedes into haze, with two stormtroopers firing from the left and a third from the right, their bolts crossing the frame in thin red lines. The whole canvas is smoke-grey and blue with almost no saturated colour except those bolts and that hand.
