General Grievous Wields Four Blazing Lightsabers — Print & Oil Painting

A frontal, near-symmetrical figure with four arms spread wide and a lit blade in each hand. Two arms lift up and outward to the top corners; two extend down and outward to the bottom ones. The result is a shape like a star, and the whole canvas is organised around that single silhouette.

Colour is arranged in opposing pairs. The upper left blade and the lower right blade are green; the upper right and the lower left are blue. Set diagonally across from each other, the two colours keep the composition turning rather than settling, and each hilt carries a small crackle of the same colour arcing over the casing.

The centre of the figure is deliberately dark. A heavy cloak hangs open from the shoulders as one broad brown-black mass, and inside it the body is thin, pale and skeletal: a narrow ribbed torso, exposed joints, and the soft green sac at the abdomen where what is left of him is kept. Above, the mask sits small and bone-coloured under the collar with two yellow points for eyes.

The handling is loose and smeared throughout, with amber and brown smoke banked into all four corners and the blade light bleeding well beyond the blades themselves. It gives the piece a feeling of noise. What the arrangement makes plain is that the extra arms are not a flourish. They are the reason four separate weapons can be brought to bear by one body at the same time.
