About this artwork
A wide banner of an image, and it is composed like a piece of key art: figure right of centre, emblem behind, everything else stripped out.
That emblem is a large cogged disc set into the grey background at the right, six spokes running out from a solid hub to a broken outer ring, painted a shade or two lighter than the wall so it sits in the picture without ever pushing forward. It is the only geometry in the frame.
The Inquisitor leans in from the right with both arms working. The right hand carries the hilt across the lower left of the canvas, a long silver shaft with a circular guard fitted around it, and the blade coming off it is amber-orange rather than red, lighting the forearm and the chest plate from below. The left hand is thrust forward toward the viewer, palm open and fingers spread wide, sharply foreshortened so it reads as the nearest object in the picture.
The head is drawn hard. Grey drawn skin over a long skull, white hair swept back flat, yellow eyes under a heavy brow, and two red marks running down from the hairline past the outer corners of the eyes. The armour is black with maroon panels and a moulded shoulder guard.
The ring on that hilt is not decoration. His weapon was built to spin around it, blade and all, which is why the guard is a full circle rather than a crossbar and why the grip sits off the axis. From our Star Wars collection, beside the same hilt caught mid-rotation and the walk at the head of a line of troopers.
