Han Solo and Chewbacca Stand in the Millennium Falcon — Print & Oil Painting

A deliberate piece of period illustration. The surface has been given the whole treatment: warm varnish, fine craquelure across the paint film, drips down the lower edge, a canvas weave showing through the thinner passages. It is made to look like a painting that has hung somewhere since about 1978.

The setting frames them without any effort. The circular ribbed corridor of the freighter recedes behind their heads in concentric arcs of gold, olive and cream, and the light comes down the tunnel from behind, throwing both figures slightly forward.

The Wookiee holds the left half of the picture, three quarters on, the fur painted in long directional strokes from ochre through to chestnut, with the ammunition bandolier crossing his chest and a bowcaster held level in both hands. Its stock, limbs and cabling are the most carefully drawn objects in the frame.

The man beside him is deliberately less busy: white shirt, black waistcoat, dark trousers with a stripe down the seam, a low-slung holster on the right thigh and a blaster already in the hand. He looks straight out at the viewer with his weight on one hip, and the expression is the whole character in one glance.
