Stormtrooper Propaganda Poster — Print & Oil Painting

Printed rather than painted, and printed badly on purpose. The whole sheet carries the damage of an object that has been up on a wall too long: hairline cracks running through the figures, patches where the ink has lifted, a mottled bloom across the background, edges rubbed thin.

Three armoured troopers are stacked in a shallow wedge and seen from slightly below, so they lean over the viewer. The central one stands square and empty-handed, the left one is turned inward at the shoulder, and the right one holds a blaster across his chest with both hands. Their plates are rendered in bone white and pale blue with almost no modelling, which flattens them into a single pale mass.

Behind them the ground is a dark plum red, and inside it, barely visible, sits a large circular emblem with radiating spokes. Keeping it faint is the smartest decision on the sheet: the mark is meant to be recognised rather than read.

Two lines of Aurebesh run across the bottom in heavy type with a smaller third line beneath, all in the same distressed grey. The text is given the same treatment as the armour, so the slogan and the soldiers wear away together.

What makes it convincing as propaganda is the anonymity. Three identical helmets, no faces, no names, no individual pose worth remembering. Part of our Star Wars collection, alongside the companion sheet with a face on it and a single trooper posed before the same emblem.
