Vader's Mustafar fortress — Print & Oil Painting

One silhouette, placed dead centre, and everything else in the frame is weather. The building goes up as two parallel black blades from a wide stepped base, tapering as they rise and separating near the top into a fork, and not one window or door is legible anywhere on it.

A single red slot burns at the point where the towers divide. It is small, no larger than a fingernail on the canvas, and it is the only evidence that the structure is occupied rather than abandoned.

Directly beneath the tower a fall of molten rock drops from the underside of the platform into the pool below, drawn as one vertical orange stripe with a white core. It is the brightest passage in the picture and it sits exactly on the central axis, so the building appears to be standing on its own light.

The plain around it runs out to both horizons in cooling crust, split by rivers of orange, with two columns of steam rising at the left and right edges and low hills beyond. Above, a lid of black-green cloud presses down and takes up the entire upper third. The sky here is the ceiling of a room.

The two-pronged profile was drawn to read as a tuning fork, and the fortress was placed over an existing Sith cave rather than on clear ground: a house built on top of something older and worse.
