Link Charges on Horseback Past a Bokoblin Camp — Print & Oil Painting

Count the feet that are still touching grass. One Bokoblin is upside down in the air at the upper left, club above its head, legs thrown apart; another has been knocked clean out of the lower left corner with a sword too big for it; the horse itself has a single hind hoof down and three legs off the ground. Only the two by the fence at the right are standing, and they are shouting.

The rider carries the movement with his shoulders rather than his face. He is up out of the saddle, reins in the left fist, a sword swung high in the right, mouth open, the blue Champion's tunic pulled tight across his back. The horse is a heavy dark bay with white socks and a black mane, painted with real weight in the chest and haunch.

The camp is sketched in a few props: a crude fence of lashed poles, a boar skull raised on a stake, a spear leaning in the grass. At the far left a standing slab is covered in glowing blue circuitry, the Sheikah pattern, and its cold light is the only colour in the picture that does not come from the sun.

Bokoblins keep camps exactly like this one all over the ruined Hyrule of Breath of the Wild, which is why the scene reads less as a duel than as a commute interrupted. Part of our Zelda collection.
