Episode IV A New Hope Movie Poster — Print & Oil Painting

The original key art, reproduced without its lettering, which turns a poster into a painting and makes the structure much easier to see.

Everything is organised around one vertical. A young man stands at the lower right and raises a blade in both hands above his head, and the beam runs from his fists to the top edge of the sheet in a single white column, flaring where the two meet. His pose is frankly heroic and slightly ridiculous, and the whole composition depends on it.

Behind that column the helmet fills the upper half like a range of hills, matte black against the stars, painted large enough that the cheek panels and the mouth grille read as architecture. A dark battle station hangs at the upper left as a small grey sphere.

Beside him a woman in white holds a pistol at her hip, her robe caught in the same wind that lifts the cape behind them. At the lower right two droids stand in the sand, one tall and gold, one short and cylindrical. On the left, a fan of white lines sweeps in from the edge, standing in for a fleet, a trench and a horizon at once.
