Kylo Ren and Rey Clash Atop the Ruined Death Star — Print & Oil Painting

Two figures on a wreck in the middle of an electric blue storm. Rey holds the left of the canvas, low and braced, both hands on the hilt with the blue blade angled up and back. Kylo comes down at her from the right, hooded and caped, one arm swung high with the crossguard blade blazing red across the top corner of the picture.

They are standing on ruined structure: buckled plating, torn beams, a great curved section of hull rising out of dark water at the lower right. The artist has painted it as debris rather than as architecture, so nothing underneath either figure looks stable.

The background is the piece's biggest decision: a field of blue-white energy, veined like lightning and clouded like a nebula, filling the entire canvas behind them. It bleaches out to near-white directly between the two figures, which throws both into silhouette and makes the red blade on the right and the blue one on the left the only two clean colours in the image.

The helmet is the detail to look for. It has been broken and put back together, and the artist has painted the seams as thin red lines running across the black, the mark of a man who destroyed the thing himself and then had it rebuilt rather than admit he needed it.
