X-Wing Squadron Streaks Past Twin Distant Planets — Print & Oil Painting

A formation piece rather than a battle piece. Eight or nine craft are spread across the black in loose echelon, and the artist has drawn every one of them in the same hard focus regardless of distance, which is what gives the image its model-photography stillness.

The nearest X-wing sits low and central, seen almost broadside with the S-foils locked open, the four cannons projecting forward past the nose, and the red stripes running clean down the white hull. Behind and above it the rest of the group fans out: more X-wings on the right, and at the far edges the longer, blunter shapes of Y-wings with their exposed engine nacelles.

Two worlds anchor the opposite corners. A red planet cuts diagonally across the upper left as a broad banded mass with a hard terminator edge, and a blue-green one sits small and complete against the right margin. Between them the field is pure black, thinly sown with stars.

There is no fire, no damage and no enemy anywhere in the frame. Everything is intact and pointed the same way, and the picture takes its tension entirely from the fact that a formation this tidy is a thing that only exists before the shooting starts.
