Our studio works from Vietnam, and it shows: rice terraces, limestone bays, lantern-lit streets and monsoon light make up the largest part of this collection. Alongside them sit the temples and coastlines of Japan, the desert monuments of Egypt, and a handful of galaxies and astronauts for those who prefer their horizon a little further away.

Light is the whole subject

A landscape lives or dies on its light. Our painters build atmospheric depth the slow way, with thin successive layers rather than a single opaque pass, so that distance actually recedes and haze reads as air rather than grey paint. Water, stone and foliage each get their own handling; that is what separates a painted landscape from a printed photograph.
